Nature and biodiversity

With rainforest the size of 87 rugby pitches cut down every minute and the drastic loss of our planet’s biodiversity, rugby can play its part in raising awareness among its global family and inspire positive actions.

Sir Bill Beaumont, World Rugby CHairman

We believe rugby can play its part in fighting the drastic loss of biodiversity on our planet by showing leadership and empowering members of our global family to safeguard our natural environment.

World Rugby is a signatory of the Sports for Nature Framework led by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), International Olympic Committee (IOC), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and Sails of Change.

We have committed to limit to a minimum the impact of our activities and tournaments on the natural environment, using our platforms to engage our stakeholders and advocate for the protection of the planet's biodiversity.
