World Rugby's mission is "growing the global rugby family"
In 2018, the total number of registered players increased from 3.2 million to 3.5 million while the total number of non-registered rugby players rose from 5.9 million to 6.1 million. More than two million children were also introduced to the sport via World Rugby’s Get Into Rugby programme during the year.
