Uganda’s 47-29 win over Morocco in the latest round of the Africa Gold Cup has seen the Rugby Cranes climb one place up to 35th in the World Rugby Rankings.
The victory, which assured Uganda of their place in the region’s top-tier competition for next season, was worth just under three-quarters of a rating point and takes them above Poland.
Bottom-of-the-table Morocco drop two places as a result of their third defeat in the competition with Tunisia, despite their 67-0 loss to Kenya, and Colombia the sides to benefit.
Kenya’s emphatic victory guarantees them at worst a place in the global repechage for Rugby World Cup 2019 and sets up a Gold Cup title decider with Namibia on Saturday that will also determine the Africa 1 qualifier for Japan 2019.
The Simbas’ rating was, however, unaffected by the result, due to the large points differential between the sides.
