Trinidad & Tobago's women carried on where their male counterparts left off a couple of weeks ago in Rugby World Cup qualifying by beating the Cayman Islands in the final to win the 2008 women's Caribbean Championships at the weekend.

T&T's convincing 79-0 win in their round robin match against the Cayman side underlined their overall superiority in the tournament, which was played at the National Park in Guyana.

While Guyana also ended with a 13-10 victory against Jamaica, to follow their 5-5 draw with T&T on day two, the 40-point victory they needed to win the tournament was not achieved and as a result the Guyanese women also followed their men's side in taking second place.

Defending champions Jamaica finished third ahead of Cayman, who were playing in their first competitive tournament.
