World Rugby can confirm the following players will have cases heard by a Foul Play Review Committee (FPRC) as a result of matters arising from the opening round of the World Rugby Nations Cup on 4 July.
Portugal’s Manuel Variero received a red card for an offence contrary to Law 9.11 (dangerous play - striking/kicking) during the USA v Portugal match in Denver on 4 July.
In the same match, Portugal’s Pedro Vicente also received a red card for an offence contrary to Law 9.11 (dangerous play - stamping).
The players will have their cases heard by the FPRC on Monday, 6 July.
In line with the expedited off-field sanction trial, operating at the World Rugby Nations Cup, the citing window is 12 hours following the final whistle.
The FPRC will ordinarily convene after each match weekend to review red card incidents and citings. If required, all full disciplinary committee hearings will be conducted ordinarily with 48 hours following the relevant match.
