Rugby’s showcase tournament will take place from 8 September to 28 October, 2023 and will celebrate rugby and its values with the French public.

Together, Volvic, Antoine Dupont and Rugby World Cup France 2023, will unite a population thirsting to “awaken the power of nature” for the 10th Rugby World Cup.

Three players united by their inherently shared values

With its immediately recognisable and refreshing taste, Volvic natural mineral water comes from the Auvergne volcanic region in France, with a mission to deliver natural[1] and healthy[2] hydration on a daily basis. Volvic has been working to preserve and protect this natural ecosystem and its abundant biodiversity for many years. Volvic, which is certified B CorpTM, has long been an active and engaged stakeholder in Auvergne with a proud history of supporting rugby in the region. For more than 60 years, Volvic has been an official partner of the ASM Clermont Auvergne club, upholding and promoting the values of rugby.

In this respect, the commitment with the France 2023 Organising Committee was an obvious choice. The event, which will see the world’s best players and the top 20 teams come to France to compete, is taking a more sustainable and socially committed approach than ever before.

To provide sustainable hydration in stadiums, Team Base Camps and celebration areas, the eight-litre Volvic fountain, made of 100 per cent recycled material[3], will be made available to players, organisers, media and volunteers, along with individual reusable water bottles.

Motivated by shared values, Volvic natural mineral water, Rugby World Cup France 2023 organisers and Antoine Dupont, the iconic captain of the French national team, will work together to promote this popular and festive event. It will be a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with nature, recharge our batteries and find the strength to give our best.

A special film to announce this unprecedented partnership

Volvic Supporter Officiel de la Coupe du Monde de Rugby France 2023

With the involvement of Antoine Dupont and the France 2023 Organising Committee, Volvic created an innovative film set in the heart of the Auvergne volcanos, celebrating the outstanding, preserved and unmatched ecosystem which is the source of Volvic natural mineral water and from which it draws all its strength.

France 2023 CEO Julien Collette said: "France 2023 is proud to be associated with Volvic, whose mineral water comes from a protected natural environment in the heart of the Auvergne. France 2023 and Volvic share common values and ambitions in building a sustainable and responsible event. This commitment reflects the need to preserve our environment in order to transmit its strength to future generations."

Managing Director of Danone France François Eyraud added: "Volvic is very proud to be an Official Supporter of Rugby World Cup France 2023 and to help promote this sport and its values which the brand has long shared. This momentous and unifying event bears out our commitment to a sustainable and responsible world. Together we will strive to raise awareness and inspire change for the future."

France captain Dupont added: "I have a strong bound with my region and I believe that the most inspiring and wonderful place you can play in is nature. It is this connection that allows us to give our best, both on and off the field."

ABOUT RUGBY WORLD CUP FRANCE 2023

Rugby World Cup 2023 will be held in France from 8 September to 28 October with matches played in nine stadiums across 10 host cities. It will be the 10th men’s Rugby World Cup and the second to be organised in France after a memorable edition in 2007.

Rugby World Cup 2023 will take place during the bicentennial year for the sport. Rugby was invented in 1823 by William Webb Ellis, an English student at Rugby School, who displayed “a fine disregard for the rules” in catching the ball and running with it.

France 2023 aims to be a positive impact, setting new standards in social responsibility, inclusion and sustainable development for a major international sporting event. Four strong commitments have been made: acting for sustainability and circular economy, supporting education, training and employment, limiting the impact on the environment and promoting inclusion and accessibility.

The showpiece event in men’s 15s, Rugby World Cup France 2023 will feature 20 teams, and 48 matches played across 51 days.

ABOUT VOLVIC

Volvic’s unique volcanic natural mineral water comes from the Auvergne volcanic region in France. 13,500 years ago, a volcanic eruption formed six layers of volcanic rock, thereby creating a vast natural filter through which the water slowly flows into the ground. Volvic natural mineral water stems from this unique filtration journey through the rocks. Since its discovery, the brand has taken daily action to preserve this environment and its biodiversity in order to maintain its strength and balance and guarantee the original purity of this natural mineral water. As an iconic Danone brand and in line with its vision “One Planet, One Health”, Volvic is committed to providing the French people with healthy and sustainable hydration solutions. Since 2020, Volvic has been certified carbon neutral by The Carbon Trust and has joined the B CorpTM movement.
