World Rugby has published the below update confirming the following independent disciplinary hearings resulting from men's and women's international matches held over the weekend of 13-14 November, 2021.

Independent disciplinary update: Eroni Sau (Fiji)

Fiji winger Eroni Sau will attend an independent disciplinary hearing after he received a red card for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.13 (dangerous tackle) in Fiji’s international match against Wales on 14 November, 2021.

The player will attend a hearing via video conference before an independent Judicial Committee chaired by Pamela Woodman (Scotland), joined by former international coach Frank Hadden (Scotland) and former international Martyn Wood (England). 

The hearing will take place on Tuesday, 16 November, 2021.

Independent disciplinary update: Yuna Sato (Japan)

Japan second-row Yuna Sato will attend an independent disciplinary hearing after she received a red card for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.13 (dangerous tackle) in Japan’s international match against Scotland on 14 November, 2021.  

The player will attend a hearing via video conference before an independent Judicial Committee chaired by Jennifer Donovan (Ireland), joined by former sevens international Rob Vickerman (England) and former international referee Valeriu Toma (Romania). 

The hearing will take place on Tuesday, 16 November, 2021.

Independent disciplinary update: Michael Smith (Canada)

Canada back-row Michael Smith will attend an independent disciplinary hearing after he received a red card for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.16 (dangerous charge) in Canada’s international match against Belgium on 13 November, 2021.

The player will attend a hearing via video conference before an independent Judicial Committee chaired by Marcello d’Orey (Portugal), joined by former international players Olly Kohn (Wales) and Mike Ross (Ireland).

The hearing will take place on Wednesday, 17 November, 2021.

Citing Commissioner Warnings

South Africa second-row Nolusindiso Booi has been issued a Citing Commissioner Warning by Citing Commissioner Chris Catling (RFU) for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.20a (charging into a ruck) in South Africa's international match with Wales on 14 November, 2021.

South Africa replacement prop Asithandile Ntoyanto has been issued a Citing Commissioner Warning by Citing Commissioner Chris Catling (RFU) for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.13 (dangerous tackle) in South Africa's international match with Wales on 14 November, 2021.
