Anti-Doping Chaperone

Anti-Doping Chaperones play a very important role in the overall doping control process, both on match days and during out of competition testing, which takes place on non-match days.

For testing in a match situation the Chaperone notifies the player selected for doping control immediately after the match and escorts them at all times until they report to the doping control station.  The player is permitted to undertake certain activities before they are required to report to the doping control station, but the Chaperone must ensure the player remains in full view during all post match activities.  On arrival at the doping control station, the Anti-Doping Chaperone is required to stay with the player until the player is ready to provide a sample.

The continuous chaperoning of the player reduces the ability of a player to tamper with their urine sample, ensures that the player is advised of their rights and responsibilities in regards to the testing process, and makes sure the player arrives at the doping control station within the required time period.
