The Victoria Cup will remain in Zimbabwe's possession after the Sables completed a clean sweep of wins in the four-nation tournament with a 41-5 victory against Zambia in Lusaka on Saturday.

The Sables, who won the Victoria Cup the last time it was played in 2011, ran in seven tries against their lower-ranked opponents and the scoreline would have been even more convincing had their captain and scrum-half Hilton Mudariki and his half-back partner Dudlee White-Sharpley been more accurate from the kicking tee.

Props Cleopas Kundiona and Tyran Fagan were the first on the scoresheet for Zimbabwe before Zambia were punished for going down to 14 men with the concession of third try to flanker Godwin Mangenje. Winger Takudzwa Kumadiro added another on the stroke of half-time as Zimbabwe went into the break leading 22-0.

Zambia responded with a try for John Mulenga three minutes after the restart but the Sables finished the stronger of the two teams with full-back Martin Mangongo scoring twice, his second try coming while both sides had a man in the sin-bin.

Zimbabwe's seventh and final try did not come until two minutes into stoppage time when openside flanker Blithe Mavasere crossed the whitewash, Jeremiah Jaravaza slotting the third conversion of the match for a final scoreline of 41-5.

As well as keeping the silverware, Zimbabwe's rating in the World Rugby Men's Rankings increased fractionally to 51.80 points, leaving them in 44th place. The loss of six-hundredths of a point was enough, however, for Zambia drop below Chinese Taipei and into 66th place.
