The Nordic region’s leading streaming company, NENT, which is the broadcasting home to a number of major rugby championships and competitions, will live broadcast every one of the 48 tournament matches at Rugby World Cup 2019 through its Viaplay service.

Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden are growth territories for rugby with 24,000 players (9,000 registered). Sweden has more than 820,000 rugby followers, with the majority of fans under the age of 34 and female, reflecting the sport’s ability to reach and inspire a new audience. All four teams were involved in Rugby World Cup 2019 qualification.

World Rugby Chairman Sir Bill Beaumont said: “Rugby is experiencing strong participation and fan growth globally driven by the accessibility and excitement of Rugby World Cup and the Olympic Games. Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden reflect that journey, all having experienced marked uplifts in fan and participation numbers in recent years.

“The appointment of NENT Group as the Nordic’s leading and most-accessible online broadcast platform means more people than ever before will be able to engage with the tournament from these nations, reinforcing our belief that Rugby World Cup 2019 will be the most-viewed and most-engaged rugby event of all-time, driving global fan and participation growth.”

NENT Group Head of Sport Kim Mikkelsen added: “Rugby continues to grow around the world – Japan is set to host Asia’s first-ever Rugby World Cup - and in the Nordic region the game is captivating more and more fans. Our coverage of Rugby World Cup 2015 and the Six Nations has found an enthusiastic audience on Viaplay, and now NENT Group is showing all 48 games from the 2019 Rugby World Cup live. Yet again we’re proving that, when it comes to the world’s best live sports, Viaplay is the only place to stream.”
