Argentina XV wrapped up their Sudamérica Rugby Six Nations 2019 campaign with a 62-0 defeat of defending champions Brazil to make it three wins from three in the region's premier competition.

They were crowned champions on points difference after the Uruguay XV also won three matches, beating Colombia 38-24 in a tough battle in Montevideo. Chile finished third after overcoming Paraguay 53-10 in Asunción for their first victory in the competition.

BRAZIL 0-62 ARGENTINA XV

With the Webb Ellis Cup in attendance as a consequence of the Rugby World Cup 2019 Trophy Tour stopping off in Brazil, Argentina XV's hard work across the season paid off with a 62-0 defeat of the team that had beaten them en route to claiming the title last year.

Brazil, playing an international match at the Estadio Independencia in Belo Horizonte for the first time, attacked from the outset, but it was Ignacio Fernández Lobbe's side that took the lead in the seventh minute when Jerónimo Ureta scored the opening try.

Shortly after Argentina XV found themselves down to 14 men when number eight Santiago Portillo was sent-off for foul play, but despite this they scored two further tries through hooker Diego Fortuny and full-back Facundo Cordero to lead 19-0 at half-time.

Five minutes after the break, Brazilian flanker Mateus Souza was also red carded for a dangerous tackle.

With both teams down to 14 players, Argentina XV scored six more tries - through centre Julian Widmer, Cordero, winger Agustin Segura, replacement Teo Castiglioni (2) and winger Manuel Montero - to make the points difference impossible for the Uruguayans to chase as they were preparing for a later kick-off.

In three matches, Argentina XV scored 30 tries and kept their try-line intact.

"It was a tough game, mostly in the first half which was complicated due to the red card," said Fernández Lobbe at the end of the game.

"In the second half, we focused on our game, looking after the ball, move it around as we knew they wouldn't be able to sustain our rhythm. We stuck to that and the game opened."

URUGUAY XV 38-24 COLOMBIA

Uruguay XV played against a Colombian team on the rise and were pushed all the way at Estadio Charrúa, seeing a commanding half-time lead whittled away before late tries wrapped up a 38-24 victory.

The home side were in complete control at half-time with the bonus point secured thanks to tries from Federico Favaro (2), Felipe Etcheverry and captain Juan Diego Ormaechea, Colombia's only reply through full-back Arley Urrutia.

The second half was a different story, though, as Colombia - who a week early had risen to their highest ever position of 33rd in the World Rugby Rankings - refused to lie down with Jose Manuel Diosa scoring within minutes of coming on as a half-time replacement.

A yellow card for replacement Diego Arbelo gave Colombia a boost and in his absence they cut the deficit to four points with Diosa converting Geovanny Carbajal's try and adding a penalty.

There was to be no fairytale comeback, though, with replacement hooker Manuel Ardao scoring a brace in the final 10 minutes to secure the victory and second place in the standings.

PARAGUAY 10-53 CHILE

Chile arrived in Asunción seeking a first victory of the competition and knowing that anything less against Paraguay could see them propping up the standings.

They too, like the Uruguay XV, had the bonus point wrapped up by half-time after tries by winger Tomas Salas, centre Inaki Ayarza, captain Martin Sigren and prop Mattias Dittus with Paraguay's only response a penalty by Marcelo Matiauda.

Both sides lost a player to the sin-bin at the start of the second half, although that didn't stop Sigren from scoring his second of the match.

Further tries from Salas, Augusto Sarmiento, Ignacio Silva and Julio Blanc helped Chile to a comfortable 53-10 victory that saw them leapfrog Brazil and Colombia to finish third in the standings.
