World Rugby has announced that Land Rover will extend its partnership with the World Rugby Awards 2018 by sponsoring the ‘Award for Character’.

The World Rugby Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in rugby on and off the field from community to elite level.

The Award for Character in association with Land Rover will honour an individual, union or group who have shown an outstanding display of character which embodies the true values of rugby: integrity, respect, solidarity, passion and discipline.

The  World Rugby Awards 2018 will bring together the world’s top players, World Rugby Hall of Fame inductees, representatives from member unions to honour the best of rugby.

The event will again take place at the Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo on the 25th November 2018 under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco, following a record-breaking debut in the Principality in 2017.

World Rugby Chairman Bill Beaumont today said “We are delighted that Land Rover is extending their partnership of the World Rugby Awards this year. Land Rover is a valued World Rugby partner with a proven track record in supporting and celebrating the game at all levels and the sponsorship of the Award for Character is further testament to their commitment to celebrating the game.”

Laura Wood, Head of Global PR, Brand and Partnerships at Jaguar Land Rover, said: “Land Rover has a heritage in rugby at all levels from grassroots to elite and we understand and share the values at the heart of the game.”

“The decision to extend Land Rover’s partnership with the World Rugby Awards and support the Award for Character was a natural one, as it provides a great opportunity to recognise and reward members of the rugby family.”
