Ahead of hosting the Marbella round of the European Sevens circuit, Spain's women's squad received some timely coaching tips from Rugby World Cup winner, Jonny Wilkinson.

The Spanish squad is in camp in Calvia, Mallorca, ahead of the Marbella showpiece and also the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow on 28-30 June.

Wilkinson, who recently won the Heineken Cup with his Toulon teammates, took time out from his holiday on the Balearic island to accept the invitation from Spain's national coach, Boris Gutierrez, to join up with the team.

The low intensity training session lasted three hours and was geared primarily towards basics - ball handling, ruck technique and body position - and also communication in attack. Finally, as one might expect, Wilkinson also conducted an individual drop-kicking masterclass with the team's kickers.

"He is an extremely sincere and humble guy," said Gutierrez afterwards. "One of the things that stood out was the importance he places on the values ??of rugby, the need to be strong in your communication of the team's systems and working with your teammates.

"He also tried his best to do the whole session in Spanish, with a bit of French to help. It was an absolute pleasure and luxury to have his help."

Spain's women face heavyweights USA as well as Brazil and Fiji in pool play at the Rugby World Cup Sevens later this month.
