Guyana’s two centres – Theodore Henry and Claudius Butts – scored the vital tries either side of half time at the National Stadium in Providence, with scrum half and captain Ryan Gonsalves converting both.
Gonsalves also kicked two second-half penalties to send home the majority of the 400 crowd happy.
Guyana will play the winner of the other section of the NACRA Championship, which will be decided next weekend. Should Bermuda defeat Bahamas, they will go through. Should Bermuda lose, then Cayman Islands will progress.
The winner of that tie will face the winner of the South American B Championship, taking place in Venezuela from 8-15 September and involving the hosts, Peru, Paraguay and Colombia.
