16:59 - Australia become the fifth Cup winner of the season, Matt Lucas slotting a brilliant conversion from out wide in the dying seconds to help his side beat Samoa 28-26 in dramatic fashion in the Tokyo final.

16:45 - And Australia lead Samoa 14-12 at the break. Could we have a fifth different Cup winner this Series?

16:33 - Time for the Cup final..

16:28 - New Zealand come from 17-0 down to beat England 24-17 in the third place play-off, the penultimate match of the 2012 Tokyo Sevens. 

16:01 - Fiji hold on at the end to claim extra Series points by beating South Africa 14-10 in the Plate final

15:51 - A missed conversion is the difference at half time of the Plate final, with Fiji beating South Africa 7-5. 

15:39 - France win the Bowl by beating USA 17-12. 

15:29 - France lead USA 12-5 at the break in the Bowl final. 

15:14 - Scotland win the first silverware on offer in Tokyo, beating Kenya 26-12 in the Shield final

15:05 - Scotland lead Kenya 19-0 at half time in the Shield final. 

14:51 - And it is Samoa who progress to the final thanks to a sudden death extra time try from Alatasi Tupou against New Zealand in Match 40.

14:48 - Absolute thriller in the second semi final as Samoa and New Zealand head into sudden death extra time after the first 14 minutes ended 12-12. 

14:38 - Uale Mai scores a great try for Samoa as they lead New Zealand 7-0 after the first seven minutes. 

14:36 - But Australia book their place in a first Cup final this season, beating England 33-12 in the first semi final in Tokyo. 

14:16 - Australia storm into a 21-0 lead but Dan Norton gives England hope on the stroke of half time. 21-7 at the break. 

14:04 - But Fiji score two unanswered tries in the second half to beat Argentina 21-14 in Match 38.

13:54 - Argentina score two late tries in the first half to lead Fiji 14-7 at the break.

13:41 - South Africa put the disappointment of losing to England in the Cup quarters to reach the Plate final by beating Wales 22-10 in Match 37

13:31 - South Africa are 12-5 ahead in the first Plate semi final against Wales.

13:20 - USA set up a Bowl final with France after beating Portugal 20-10 in Match 36

13:10 - USA's Zack Test scores on the stroke of half time to give his side a 10-5 lead at the break against Portugal. 

12:59 - A thriller in Tokyo but France hang on to beat Hong Kong 26-15 in Match 35.

12:49 - France lead Hong Kong 19-0 in the first Bowl quarter final.

12:37 - Humphrey Kayange sets up a Shield final with Scotland as Kenya beat Japan 24-17 in Match 34. 

12:16 - Scotland beat Russia 21-19 to reach the Shield final in Match 33

11:52 - The defending World Series champions will play Samoa after beating Los Pumas 40-5 in Match 32

11:42 - New Zealand look set to complete the Cup semi finalists as they lead Argentina 19-0 at half time.

11:31 - And it is Samoa who hold on their lead and win 24-21 against Pacific rivals Fiji in Match 31

11:20 - Fiji lead Samoa 14-12 at the break having led 14-0 before tries from Ken Pisi and Paul Perez. 

11:09 - Richard Smith scores for Wales in the second half but it is not enough as Australia win 21-14 in Match 30

10:59 - Australia score three first half tries to Wales' one and lead 21-7. 

10:47 - Mat Turner runs the entire length of the field to dramatically snatch a 21-17 victory for England against South Africa in Match 29

10:35 - Tom Powell scores on the stroke of half time, as England trail South Africa 12-7 at the break. 

10:27 - Time for the Cup quarter finals. First up, England v South Africa in a repeat of last week's third place play-off...

10:24 - Rocco Mauer's second half try gives USA a 12-7 victory against Kenya in Match 28

10:14 - A conversion from Peter Ocholla, converting his own try, is the difference in the fourth Bowl quarter final as Kenya lead USA 7-5.

10:03 - A highly entertaining second half for the home fans, but Portugal come out on top 21-5 against Japan in Match 27

09:52 - Hosts Japan trail Portugal 7-5 at half time. It is the third time these two sides have met in the past week.

09:40 - Tom McQueen comes off the bench to score two tries, including one on the stroke of full time to give Hong Kong a dramatic 17-12 victory against Russia in Match 26.

09:30 - Russia show some good defence at the end of the first half, leading Hong Kong 5-0.

09:19 - Jean Baptise Mazoue crashes over in the corner to secure a dramatic 22-19 victory for France against Scotland in Match 25

09:07 - But France hit back with two tries, including one from Paul Albaladejo on the stroke of half time to give his side a 12-7 lead at the break. 

09:03 - Sean Kennedy scores the first try of day two for Scotland against France.

19:27 - Dan Norton extends England's lead, and Ben Ryan's side hold on to a 14-7 victory against last week's champions to set up a quarter final with South Africa and bring a close to the action on day one. 

19:17 - A Tom Mitchell try gives England a 7-0 lead against Fiji at the break. 

19:05 - Ken Pisi scored either side of half time as Samoa prove too strong on the day for South Africa, putting in a fine performance to see off Paul Treu's men 38-7 in match 23.

18:55 - In the Pool D decider, the penultimate match of day one at the Tokyo Sevens, Samoa lead South Africa 24-0 at half time. 

18:42 - Just as in 2009, Wales come out on top, beating Argentina 17-5 in Match 22

18:31 - Wales lead Argentina 5-0 half time in a repeat of the RWC Sevens 2009 final. 

18:20 - New Zealand prove too strong for their trans-Tasman rivals as they beat Australia 22-10 in Match 21

18:10 - DJ Forbes ends the first half with a try to give New Zealand a 12-5 lead against Australia in the Pool B decider. 

17:57 - But the hosts cannot overturn the deficit as they concede three second half tries to lose 24-5 against France in Match 20

17:47 - Japan score on the stroke of half time to go into the break 7-5 down against France. 

17:36 - Portugal come from 7-0 behind to beat Scotland 15-7 in Match 19 and finish third in Pool D. 

17:26 - Scotland look to win their first match in Tokyo as they lead Portugal 7-5 at half time.

17:14 - Russia hold on to beat Kenya 26-17 thanks to two tries from Vladimir Ostroushko in Match 18.

17:04 - Russia are looking strong against Kenya, leading 21-5 at half time. 

16:52 - Rocco Mauer breaks Hong Kong's hearts as USA win 21-19 with the final play of Match 17

16:26 - England won in Dubai, and they beat France 19-7 in Tokyo to maintain their 100% record in Match 16

16:16 - Chris Brightwell and Tom Mitchell score tries for England to lead France 12-0 at half time in a repeat of the Dubai Sevens Cup final. 

16:05 - But unfortunately for the hosts, Fiji convert two second half tries to record a 26-7 victory in Match 15

15:56 - Japan's Takehisa Usuzuki scores on the stroke of half time to give the hosts a glimmer of hope as they trail Fiji 12-7 at half time. 

15:45 - Ken Pisi scores the winner with seconds remaining for Samoa as they edge Scotland 14-7 in Match 14

15:21 - Portugal impressed again against 2008/09 World Series champions South Africa but suffered a second narrow defeat, losing 12-7 in Match 13

15:10 - A solitary try from Cornal Hendricks sees South Africa hold a 7-0 lead against Portugal at half time. 

14:58 - Harry Robinson and Richard Smith add tries for Wales in the second half against Kenya to win 22-0 in Match 12. We are now half way through day one and the pool action!

14:47 - Wales look set to record their second victory on day one of the Tokyo Sevens as they lead Kenya 10-0 at half time. 

14:36 - Argentina defeat Russia 22-0 in Match 11

14:25 - The rain is now also falling whilst Argentina lead Russia 7-0 at half time. 

14:14 - Dan Yakopo's two first half tries are enough to give Australia their second victory in Tokyo, beating USA 15-0 in Match 10

14:04 - Australia lead USA 10-0 at half time in their Pool B match.

13:52 - Two tries from Mark Jackman and Waisake Naholo help New Zealand to a 40-0 victory against Hong Kong in Match 9. 

13:42 - After a short interval for another women's match, New Zealand lead Hong Kong 26-0 at the break. 

12:52 - England's Tom Powell and Rob Vickerman score second half tries as they beat Japan 15-5 in an enthralling Match 8

12:42 - Hosts Japan tied 5-5 with England. Could we be in for our first shock of the tournament?

12:29 - And the Hong Kong Sevens champions win their opening pool match in Tokyo, beating France 17-0 thanks to two tries from Waisea Nayacalevu in Match 7

12:20 - Fiji lead France 5-0 at the break. Very windy conditions in Tokyo. 

12:08 - Portugal score two unconverted second half tries but Samoa narrowly hold on to a 21-20 victory in a nail biting Match 6.

11:58 - Newly crowned core team Portugal trail USA Sevens champions Samoa 14-10 at half time. 

11:47 - Cornal Hendricks adds a second for Paul Treu's side, giving South Africa a 14-0 victory against Scotland in Match 5

11:35 - A solitary try from South Africa captain Kyle Brown gives them a 7-0 advantage against Scotland at the break. 

11:22 - Nikolay Zaporzhin crosses for Russia in the second half, but Wales hold to on to win 10-7 in Match 4.  

11:12 - Harry Robinson scores a fantastic opening try for Wales as they lead Russia 10-0 after the opening seven minutes. 

11:01 - Kenya have the last word against Argentina, but fall to a 15-7 defeat in Match 3

10:51 -  Diego Palma scores on the stroke of half time to give Argentina a 10-0 lead against Kenya.

10:38 - Hong Kong score two second half tries but are unable to overturn the deficit as Australia hold to on a win 17-14 in Match 2.

10:28 - Australia lead Hong Kong 12-0 at the end of the first half. 

10:17 - Current Series leaders New Zealand get their campaign up and running with a 26-5 victory against USA in Match 1

10:07 - New Zealand lead USA 14-0 at half time in the opening match.

10:03 - Tomasi Cama scores the first try of the 2012 Tokyo Sevens for New Zealand. 

09:58 - Two minutes to go. Teams are running out 

09:47 - Rumour has it that thunder storms are predicted for later...

09:35 - 15 minutes to go until the Tokyo Sevens begins. Currently there is a women's match being played on the main pitch. 

09:20 - There have been four different Cup winners so far this season from the six round. Could we have a fifth here in Tokyo?

09:00 - New Zealand and USA are at the ground - one hour now until they get proceedings underway in match 1. The kiwis have been warming up on the astroturf tennis court next door.

08:51 - The crowds are starting to come in now at the Chichibu Memorial Ground. Queues at the gates.

08:25 - Final rehearsals for the entertainment breaks going on with giant flags of all 16 nations out on the pitch. It's windy out there and the flags are like parachutes - hold onto your hats..
