Back-to-back wins over Italy and Spain at Women's Rugby World Cup 2017 over the last seven days have lifted USA one place to sixth in the World Rugby Women's Rankings.

The Women's Eagles have improved their rating by 3.53 points after beating Italy 24-12 and Spain 43-0, lifting them above an Australian side that suffered two defeats in Pool C, against Ireland and France.

The only other positional change in the rankings sees Italy fall one place to 10th on the back of losses to USA, which cost them 1.23 points, and England in Pool B. Wales are the beneficiaries, their defeats against the higher ranked New Zealand and Canada having no impact on their points.

Two other teams have improved their rating across the two rounds of WRWC 2017 in Pool C rivals France and Ireland. Les Bleues have gained the most with 1.38 points from their emphatic win over Australia on Sunday. Ireland's gain of just under eight tenths comes from their 19-17 win over Australia on day one.

They remain fourth and fifth respectively going into the climax of the pool stages on Thursday.

Spain are the only other nation to see their rating affected by the opening week of WRWC 2017, Las Leonas losing 2.3 points on the back of their heavy loss to USA in round two. They remain eighth, but only a point now ahead of Wales below them.

The points exchanges are doubled during Women's Rugby World Cup to recognise the importance of the event.
