Tickets have today gone on sale for the opening leg of the 2010/11 IRB Sevens World Series, the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens, with organisers freezing prices at last year's levels.

Once again the international Sevens competition will be played on Friday and Saturday (3-4 December), with the non-IRB events starting on the Thursday.

More than 160 sides will converge on 'The Sevens', Dubai's multi-pitch state of the art Rugby facility, to compete at multiple levels of competition including junior, women's, veterans and invitational, but the jewel in the crown will be the IRB event, which will again take centre stage.

Season tickets, which include admission on both Friday and Saturday, cost just Dh300, while individual Friday tickets are Dh170 and Saturday tickets Dh230.

“We felt it important to keep the ticket prices as reasonable as possible to make this great event accessible to everyone, while children under 12 can once again enjoy free general admission,” said Gary Chapman, President Group Services and Dnata, Emirates Group.

“We are looking forward to once again welcoming the best Sevens players in the world to Dubai as they aim to get their IRB Sevens World Series off to the best possible start in this first leg of the season.

“As in previous years, we are expecting the Dubai public to be quick to snap up tickets so we’re urging everyone to get in early to avoid missing out on what is a truly fantastic family event.”

Organisers are urging fans to get down to a ticket outlet as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

People who purchase tickets early are being given a chance by the organisers to win an exclusive VIP upgrade by posting a photo of themselves with their newly purchased Sevens tickets on the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Facebook page, accessible from the website.
