Los Teros head coach Pablo Lemoine has selected a 31-player squad to travel to Japan to play two tests.

From Tokyo the team will travel to Spain where it will fine-tune preparations ahead of the World Cup before heading straight to Wales. The final tournament squad will be formally announced on 30 August.

Uruguay will travel to Japan next weekend to play internationals in Fukuoka on 22 August and in Tokyo the following Saturday against the Japanese national team.

On their way to Wales they will have two final stops, firstly in Getxo and then Bilbao where they will have a warm-up game against the Basque Country XV on 6 September. One week later they will travel to Bristol and drive the few kilometres across the Severn Bridge to base themselves in Newport ahead of their opening Pool A game at the Millennium on September 20.

Teros handed tough task

Los Teros will start their RWC campaign against Wales before games against Australia, Fiji and England.

Although not yet confirmed as tournament captain, lock Santiago Vilaseca will lead his country in the first international in Japan.

Lemoine and his two assistant coaches have previous Rugby World Cup experience. Both the head coach and former lock Juan Carlos Bado played every game in RWC 1999 and 2003, whilst former scrum-half Emiliano Caffera played in two of the four games in Australia.

They have worked up until now with a squad of 41 players but released four a week before announcing this travelling squad. The players that missed the cut will be reserves and continue to work at the Charrúa High Performance centre.
