In 2013, Kenya reached the Cup final at the Wellington Sevens beating the hosts New Zealand 17-14 in sudden death extra time to book their place against England.
The hero of the hour, Oscar Ouma, scored the try that leveled the match before powering through for the winning try that sparked wild celebrations at the Westpac Stadium.
Tomasi Cama and Tim Mikkelson had given the hosts a 14-0 lead, but Collins Injera and then Ouma leveled the scores to take the tie into sudden death, and here Ouma talks us through that memory.
"When we 14-0 we knew we had to dig deep and look for that inner strength and comes as a team. We knew we had to do our basics right and play the game.
"We had to focus on the seven players on the pitch and look each other in the eye. First Collins scored, and then I scored, and then we knew it was a contest.
"In the last huddle before sudden death, this thing back at home is house of pain, when you are tired and feel like giving up you have to find that inner strength. So we kept reminding each other house of pain, house of pain, and this is when it counts.
"Biko kicked it off, and New Zealand played it wide. Ben Lam took it in and he tried to pop it, but Andrew snatched the ball, ran through Cama and gave it to me. I tripped, and Belgium (Tuatagaloa) came in for the tackle but I was able to brush off the tackle and score the winning try.
"It was memorable moment, scoring against New Zealand at home, in sudden death, it is what we had to do. We were all celebrating, we knew that was the final."
