The final squads for the HSBC Canada Sevens at BC Place have been announced 24 hours before kick-off on Saturday 9 March.

The HSBC Canada Sevens is the sixth round of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2019 and follows a highly competitive weekend in Las Vegas which saw USA victorious in front of a packed Sam Boyd Stadium crowd.

Last weekend’s win puts USA top of the series standings, with New Zealand in second place and only five points behind them. Fiji hold third place while England go into this weekend’s action in Vancouver in fourth place.

South Africa are just one point behind England in fifth place and will be looking to topple them for fourth as the teams compete not only to take home the coveted series title, but also secure their place at Tokyo 2020 with the world series acting as principle route for Olympic qualification and the top four at the end of the series gaining automatic qualification.

The competition kicks off at 09:08 local time (GMT-8) on Saturday 9 March when England take on Scotland before the other Pool D match sees Argentina face Japan.

Pool C kicks off with Australia v Spain followed by New Zealand v France.

In Pool B Fiji, HSBC Canada Sevens winners in 2018, open against Kenya and Las Vegas runners-up Samoa face hosts Canada.

South Africa face invitational side Chile in the opening Pool A match, followed by series leaders USA v Wales
