Chile produced a strong second-half performance to come from behind and beat hosts Paraguay 35-25 in Asunción.

The victory comes on the back of Los Condores’ 32-3 win over Brazil in round three of the South American Championship and moves them up to 26th in the World Rugby Rankings in place of Zimbabwe.

Paraguay took a 22-21 lead into half-time after both sides had scored three tries apiece. But Chile found an immediate response after the re-start when fly-half Javier Valderrama kicked a 44th minute penalty to add to his three first-half conversions.

Scrum-half John Paul Perrotta scampered over for a try shortly after to put more daylight between the teams before Valderrama kicked two more penalties to one from Paraguay to complete the scoring.

Paraguay drop two places to 40th with Switzerland (38th) and Senegal (39th) the beneficiaries.

Rankings rise for Andorra

Andorra’s 14-5 win against Latvia, their second straight victory in European Nations Cup 2016 Division 2B, has resulted in the Pyrenees state climbing four places up the rankings to 58th. Latvia fall six places to 65th, Venezuela, China and Thailand all moving up one as a result.

Lithuania’s dominance of Division 2B continued with a 26-20 victory in Cyprus. Lithuania’s fourth straight bonus-point win of the campaign leaves them 11 points clear at the top of the table, however the result did not carry any rankings points as Cyprus are not a full member union of World Rugby.

The British Virgin Islands' 19-0 victory over Curacao in the NACRA Championship 2015 also did not count towards the rankings as neither union are full members of World Rugby.

One match that was eligible for the rankings was between Japan and Hong in the Asia Rugby Championship 2015. However, Japan (11th) and Hong Kong (29th) remain unaffected after the Brave Blossoms’ 41-0 win in Tokyo in the latest round of the Top 3 competition.
