Finland's 15-15 draw with Czechia in the opening match of this season's Rugby Europe Women's Trophy has cost them 0.72 of a rating point and 51st place in the World Rugby Women's Rankings.

With a reduced points total of 35.61 points, Finland drop below Barbados, while Czechia remain in 56th and last place but with just a third of a point between themselves and their nearest rivals, the Philippines.

After an attritional first-half in Helsinki in which no points were scored, Czechia finally broke the deadlock three minutes after the restart when second-rower Kristýna Plevová finally found a way through the home side's defence to score an unconverted try.

Last year's Trophy champions were unable to build on the score, however, and Finland drew level on 63 minutes when outside centre Anna Soiluva scored what turned out to be the last points of the match.

Finland travel to Malmo to play Sweden in the second round of the Trophy on 2 November, while Czechia are next in action a week later when they welcome Switzerland to Prague.
