TOKYO, 7 Oct - Georgia have fallen three places to 14th in the World Rugby Men’s Rankings on the back of their 45-10 Pool D loss to Fiji at Hanazono Rugby Stadium last Thursday.

With points exchanges doubled during Rugby World Cup 2019 to reflect the importance of the tournament, the defeat to the lower ranked Fijians cost Georgia nearly four rating points.

Fiji have climbed one place to 11th with the victory, while Italy have climbed two places to 12th despite losing their Pool B match 49-3 to South Africa a day later.

That gain, though, is as a result of the rating points lost by Georgia and USA, who conceded late tries against France to lose 33-9 in Fukuoka last Tuesday, with the Springboks' win having no impact on the rating of either side due to more than 13 rating points separating the teams.

There were no other positional changes as a result of RWC 2019 matches over the last seven days, although France and Scotland slightly improved their ratings with victories, while Samoa’s tally was reduced by just under eight hundredths of a point.

During RWC 2019, the World Rugby Men’s Rankings will update after every match.
