Belfast 2007 was the tournament in which Uruguay beat Chile twice and many of the players from that IRB Under 19 World Championship campaign renew their rivalry in the final of the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy at the Stade Français Club in Santiago.
Uruguayan scrum half Francisco Vecino played in both and knows the feeling of playing against Chile. As nervous as he was back then, his mounting experience isn't helping a lot with the butterflies this time around.
"Preparing for a final makes us nervous, but we are ready," said Vecino as he prepared to pose with his team for the official squad photo. "I wish the match was now."
He is one of the players with the pleasure of having his parents in Santiago, Ricardo and María having arrived in time for the match against Romania in which their son 'Pancho' played a starring role.
"It is great to have them around. We are going into a big game, with a huge crowd against us, so knowing they are around is great," he added.
Francisco's uncle Pedro wanted to come, but has recently had an addition to his own family. A former international who played in Uruguay's first ever RWC win against Spain in 1999, he is an inspiration to many in Uruguayan rugby. His nephew would love to have him around, but said that they have been in touch during the tournament.
"Communication with family and friends is easy nowadays," he said. "They have all been sending messages of support and hopefully we can give them a chance to celebrate.
"This is the end of a two year-long process for a group of players and coaches and we want to end it on a high. We know the Chileans very well and they play good rugby. When we played against them both games were tough. Hopefully, we will be able to win again."
Uruguayan coaches Martín Mendaro and Bruno Grunwaldt have made three changes to their side. Hooker Joaquín Rocco was preferred over Juan Pablo Ruffalini, lock Federico Pérez replaces Agustin Bordaberry and full back will be Rodrigo Méndez, with Santiago Gortari joining Bordaberry in missing selection for the match day 22.
