Draw throws up more blockbuster match-ups as HSBC SVNS heads to New York

Big games and bigger upsets in store on the final stop on the HSBC SVNS Series before the three-tournament World Championships

The HSBC SVNS Series heads to New York for the final round of the regular season — and the draw means fans at Sports Illustrated Stadium and watching on TV around the world can look forward to some scintillating match-ups.

As New Zealand and South Africa celebrated their success in Vancouver on Sunday, the draw for the last leg of the HSBC SVNS Series in New York took place on the sidelines of the post-tournament celebrations.

After their heroics in Canada, New Zealand’s all-conquering women’s side will kick off their bid for a fifth HSBC SVNS Series title in six main Series tournaments this season in New York with Pool A matches against France, Fiji and Great Britain.

The Black Ferns Sevens’ great rivals Australia, who got the better of them in the Cape Town final and have reached the showpiece of every other tournament this season, head a Pool B that includes home nation USA, Canada and Japan.

Three-time 2025/26 HSBC SVNS Series men’s champions South Africa, meanwhile, have been drawn in a difficult Pool A, with Australia, France and New Zealand.

Spain, runners-up last time out in Vancouver, head Pool B, which features Fiji, Argentina and Great Britain.
