Martin Johnson captained England to their only Rugby World Cup success in Australia in 2003, having led the team to the Six Nations Grand Slam earlier that year – their first clean sweep since 1995.

Regarded as one of the greatest second-rows to have ever played, Johnson won 84 caps for his country from 1993-2003 and toured three times with the British and Irish Lions, becoming the only man to have captained them on two separate tours, including the winning series in South Africa in 1997.

He also enjoyed a stellar career with Leicester Tigers, whom he led to four consecutive English league titles and back-to-back European Cups in an all-conquering period for the club from 1999-2002. He retired from playing in 2005.

With Johnson at the helm as team manager England won the 2011 Six Nations, although after a disappointing RWC 2011 campaign he stepped down.
